Meet Our Girl:
Sarean is a beautiful Bowman 47, built in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1985. A blue water cruiser, she is of medium displacement and built to sail upon open the oceans with ease. Her deep bilges and overhanging bow give her a powerful motion through the water – yet she remains a well balanced and sea-kindly vessel.
Sarean is not only our home – she is a great exploration platform. She is set up to be self sustaining and has a very low carbon foot print. She produces her own water and her own power. She has a fully equipped workshop which enables us to to manage fixes on the run.
She shelters us from the elements, and she takes us to places we could never access by land. Thus we can journey for months at a time without the need to access civilisation.
What does Sarean mean?
Sarean has a few meanings that we feel matches her perfectly. The first is SALTY - well that just says it all!
R is for romp - she knows how to have fun!
A is for attitude - she is ripe for adventure.
S is for superb - a great attitude about life.
